Liberta-Togo

Fighting for 'True' Democracy - Justice , Accountability & Development in Togo.

Introduction

Liberta Togo is a social political group founded in 1998 in Europe.

We were formed by a number of university students who had left Togo during the troubles of the 1990-1991 period and had met as students in Europe.

Our aim is :

1. Inform the world as to the abuse of power and corruption happening in Togo
2. Raise funds to continue our projects of building schools and hospitals in Togo.

Monitoring Evil

Togo achieved its independence from France in 1960. In the decades that followed the country was governed by the military rule of Gen. Gnassingbe Eyadema, until his death in 2005.

In 2005 a military coup installed Faure Gnassingbe the son of the former ruler into power to continue the Regimes grip on the country.

Due to the small size and lack of natural resources, Togo is hidden from the world and the misrule by Togolese politicians and military officers will continue unless something is done.

The media is not free in Togo therefore any crimes against civilians are hidden.

Failure in Togo

Togo achieved its independence from France in 1960.

Since 1960 the Togolese people have been failed by the Gnassingbe Regime, the opposition comprising of (Union des Forces du Changement - Led by Gilchrist Olympio , Comité d’Action pour la Renouveau - Led by Yawovi Agboyibo , Convention Démocratique des Peoples Africains - Led by Leopold Gnininvi , Pacte Socialiste pour le Renouveau - Led by Abi Tchessa, Parti pour le Renouveau et la Redemption - Led by Nicolas Lawson, Convergence patriotique panafricaine - Led by Edem Kodjo)

To highlight the failure we have provided some comparison showing the lack of growth since independence.
